Have you ever thought to yourself, “I am interested in evangelism, but I do not know how to do it?” Or “I love Jesus and want to share that love with others, but most of my friends are already Christian”. I know I have asked myself those questions at times too! I want to share some of what I have learned during my first year as a missionary for Apple of His Eye and a Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church…

Equipping the Saints
One of the taglines I keep returning to as a missionary for The Apple of His Eye is that our mission is to “boldly declare Yeshua as the Messiah of Israel to Jewish people and Gentiles; equip local congregations to do the same.” That mission statement fits beautifully with St. Paul’s words in Ephesians 4:11-12…

Jewish and Lutheran
The Question
As you all know, I am a pastor in the Lutheran Church — Missouri Synod (hereafter the LCMS) and a Jewish believer in Jesus. What many may not know is that this dual reality often results in a lot of questions from people. Being a Jewish believer in Jesus is already a place of curiosity for people.

The Fruit of Relationship
As many of you know, I serve as a pastor and a front-line missionary in New Jersey. I have had the blessing of meeting with other Christians for regular prayer, evangelism, and outreach to our community…

From Death to Life
I have always been struck by that passage where Jesus wept because as we keep reading, we see that Jesus knew not only that Lazarus would be raised on the last day but also that Jesus would raise Lazarus later that day!…

Purim
One of the holidays that we will be celebrating in March is the Holiday of Purim. Purim is from the Hebrew Word for “lots” (see Esther 3:7; 9:20-22). Purim is a holiday that commemorates the time when God delivered the people of Israel from the evil plot of Haman, an Haman was the royal vizier to Persian king Ahasuerus, who was planning to have all of Persia’s Jewish subjects killed…

God’s Mission
Last month we celebrated Christmas and Chanukah. These are joyous holidays that remind us how God is the One who initiates the acts of salvation among His people. At Chanukah, we celebrate the miracle of light, God’s deliverance of the people of Israel, and the temple’s re-dedication. And on Christmas, we celebrate the day when Jesus— the second person of the Trinity— took on flesh to live among and save His people…

Field of Dreams
I am a baseball fan, and one of my favorite movies is “The Field of Dreams.” As a kid growing up in Chicago, my family once made a trip out to the place where they filmed that movie. It was a lot of fun to be there as a kid and feel the movie come to life. And to experience the sport I played took on a new meaning. That, however, moves into a common question that I sometimes get asked as a missionary and pastor. People will occasionally ask, “why would you want to bring the Gospel to those who are not searching for the good news of Jesus Christ? Isn’t that kind of rude?”

Dear Saints in Yeshua
Dear Saints in Yeshua,
Over the last month I have had the privilege of doing outreach with Jews for Jesus in New York City and had many exciting conversations with Jewish people who wanted to learn more about how Jewish people could believe in Jesus and what it means for Jesus to be the Jewish Messiah.

The Chutzpah of Faith
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said to them, “I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have promised I will give to your offspring, and they shall inherit it forever.” (Ex. 32:13, ESV)
